Saturday / May 5 / 5:00pm / Bakery ; Yamato’s Birthday Party
Yamato fell asleep after talking to Mimi. Just sorta… passed out on his mattress. He’d been out and about the night before, spray painting. He did that every now and then… and he hadn’t gotten back in until just after dawn. He had passed out, still with his mask one, a disposable one that doctors use so he wouldn’t inhale the fumes, and his hoodie that was already covered in paint, and everything. Just… fell over.
And then he’d woken up, checked his messages, and fell asleep just like that again. At about 4:50ish, he woke himself up. Oh, whoops. He was suppose to meet up with Mimi and Takeru at the bakery. He wasn’t sure what they wanted to do. ‘Hang Out’ sounded weird to him. They probably had something weird planned. Whatever. He was already late and it would take him about a half hour to get there. Whoops. He didn’t even bother to message Mimi or Takeru to tell them he’d be late, assuming they’d already be at the bakery waiting.
Yamato quickly combed his hair, brushed his teeth, and washed his face, then ran out the door still in his spray-painting ‘gear’. He’d only put it on last night to go paint walls, and then he’d slept in it, of course, but it really wasn’t that dirty. Just… stained. With paint. The only thing that would really be weird would be the mask hanging around his neck he forgot was there.
Koushiro knew he’d be late. Extremely late at that, too. He was flying over Odaiba on Kabuterimon with one mission in mind. He had been AWOL for the past few days, but for justified reasons. He had furiously toiled over what to get Yamato for his birthday, since he knew he couldn’t show up empty-handed.
Knowing Mimi, she’d probably decorated her bakery, which was why she asked him to meet her there. And Takeru… He was Yamato’s brother, for crying out loud. Even if he showed up with nothing, he could simply play the family card. But him? No, he needed something. Anything. And he’ll do what it takes to get it.
It wasn’t something he could walk to a convenience store and buy it. No, it was much more complicated than that, which explains why he’d been under lockdown in his room. He was planning this trip for a while, making sure he knew where to go and when to be there. Koushiro was getting Yamato’s gift, but it was more accurate to say that he was hunting for it. He could only hope everything went well and that the party wouldn’t be over by the time he got there.
[ Minutes flew by, and it seemed like everyone was running late. And it was frustrating. Yamato would be late, she kind of figured. But Takeru? Since he planned this with her… she was kind of bothered by that fact. Even if he had things to attend to. Yamato was his brother and this was his party. Yamato had some excuse because he didn’t even know about this. Koushiro did too, but Mimi wasn’t sure if she should be mad about that.
Breaking her out of her chain of thoughts, she heard Takeru suddenly. Getting rid of any prior sign of annoyance, she smiled her best convincing smile. “Hey there! It’s fiiine.” Fine sounds exaggerated, because it kind of is. Mimi’s bluffing, but for the sake of this party being good, she’ll risk a lie. Besides, he’s complimenting her on her efforts.
Said compliments turn her smile into a full blown grin. “Thanks! It took forever but it looks great. I had a helping hand.” Fingers point to Palmon, who’s grinning just as widely.
Mimi was about to point to a place to hide those — but he seemed to help himself with that. And it worked. Unless Yamato decided to go back there. If he tried, she’d stall him. Provided she remembered the gift was there. Her own gifts weren’t hidden because they didn’t look that obvious. They were boxed and they could be anything. Even though a part of her knew that Yamato would probably guess they were clothes right away.
Since Takeru was all set and had his gift stored away, she gestured for him to sit down. The table that had the cake on it had chairs and whatnot. Might as well make themselves comfortable while they waited.
“So…. I figured Yamato would be with you?” She asked, taking a seat. He wasn’t, obviously. But she was picturing them walking in together, Yamato blind to what he was in for. Takeru would just be laughing and telling him to be patient. Things couldn’t always go according to plan though, right? She supposed it was better this way, though. If Koushiro beat Yamato here, he would also be able to witness Yamato’s surprise. IF Yamato ended up surprised.
But neither are here yet. To keep herself entertained, Mimi bets on it. Koushiro will come here first — because he wants to see her as soon as possible. Or maybe he’ll take his time, considering what happened the last time they were together. Honestly? She couldn’t blame him if he was nervous about that and stalling. But at the same time, she was forgiving about it. The timing wasn’t wrong in a sense. Rushed, but if it wasn’t rushed, it would have been the perfect moment. Maybe it was her that was wrong for saying no. But whatever, dwelling on isn’t good to help much. ]
Takeru blinked a little at Mimi’s question and shook his head. “No, sorry. I haven’t talked to him since early yesterday morning,” he said sheepishly, scratching at the back of his head. He really should have planned this all a little better. But what could he say, he had never been the most organized person. “I really am sorry for not being here earlier though, since I helped plan this and all. Everyone wanted my help today, wouldn’t believe me when I said I had plans,” he explained.
It seemed like a lot was going on today, besides them having a party. He hoped that this wouldn’t bode ill for their plans at all. Hopefully it wouldn’t but you never really knew. He wondered what MaloMyotismon would do if given the opportunity to get four of the former chosen children at once. Though sometimes Takeru wondered if he was even after them anymore.
He looked around again, his gaze falling on the door. “Do you know when Yamato and Koushiro are going to show up? And did you hear from Taichi?” he questioned. He knew that in itself would be a present for Yamato if his best friend showed up.
